After the wettest January for 250 years we are hoping to get back to business this coming Saturday, with a trip to table topping Bromley.

The inclement weather has already turned this season’s campaign into a farce, with many clubs now facing three games a week to finish the programme.

Having played just four times since Boxing Day is hardly ideal preparation for the squad and after ten postponements, which is surely a club record the fitness and mettle of the squad will be sternly tested.

The Kent side have surprised everybody this season, hitting the top of the table early on and staying put. However, the tiniest of wobbles recently has meant we actually boast a better points return in our last four respective games.

Bromley suffered their first defeat of the season at home last month, when another surprise package Concord Rangers came away with a 1-2 victory. Then, last Saturday on a quagmire of a pitch Dorchester Town finally gave their fans something to cheer, with the bottom side beating the top in a five goal thriller.

Wood remain unbeaten in the four games that were possible since Boxing Day, whilst we have picked up points in our last three away trips.

The bottom half of the table have enjoyed a resurgence of late, with the sides fortunate to play all picking up points. Aside from Dorchester’s superb win, Tonbridge Angels have just done our opponents no harm defeating second placed Eastleigh, which in turn turns the heat up on us!

Ian Allinson is looking forward to Saturday, with a positive report over the past three weeks. “ We have managed to get some games under our belts on the Astroturf and we are looking sharp. Training has gone very well and everybody is fit and healthy. We know we are in a relegation battle along with probably ten other sides. It is important for us now to keep our nerve , we have been here before!”

The boys will need all the support you can muster so get down to Hayes Lane and lets hope our fine run of form continues!
