After Saturday’s excellent display against Barrow, The Wood will be hoping they can keep their excellent home form going tomorrow evening when Braintree Town make the trip to Meadow Park

It has been all change at Braintree over the past four months. After losing their highly rated manager Danny Cowley and his assistant Nicky Cowley to Lincoln City in the summer, there was also a max exodus of the playing squad.

Braintree then appointed ex Welling and more recently Forest Green assistant boss Jamie Day as their new manager. It was always going to be a tough job following the clubs exploits the previous season. A whole new squad barring 4-5 was required. Braintree got off to a bad start which ultimately led to the sacking of Jamie Day just two months into the season.

They have since appointed another former Wood player in Hakan Heyrettin as the clubs new manager. Most recently the first team coach at Luton Town under John Still, Heyrettin has never managed at this level but has had stints with, Waltham Forest, Thurrock and Grays. Hakan seems to have settled the ship at Braintree as results are on the up and only a 95th minute equaliser prevented them from claiming an impressive away victory at Gateshead.

On the playing front the Wood snapped up two former irons in Matt Paine and their influential captain Kenny Davis as well as goal keeping coach Glen Johnson. All three I am sure will be relishing coming up against their former club

The gaffer has no new injury worries following Saturdays draw and goes into the game with a strong squad at his disposal.

The Wood won this fixture last season 1- 0 after Anthony Jeffrey put the ball into an empty net after the Braintree keeper spilled a regulation cross.

Its the Wood’s final game before Christmas so please come down and give the players the support they deserve.
