With this winter’s white weather games are coming thick and fast for most teams in the Non League Pyramid. We have just one vacant midweek slot left between now and the end of the Season and this week’s jaunt takes us to the oldest ground continually used by the same Club in the country!

Quietly building another nice little run, Wood have lost just once in the last nine League encounters, with four of those games ending in draws.    Manager Ian Allinson has completely changed his formation in the last two games yet is very clear about what is required against Maidenhead United. Of course it would be silly of me to reveal his plans on this Website and there is no better way of finding out than turning up at York Road to cheer on the lads!

The Magpies have had a fine February in the League remaining unbeaten.    A late penalty on  Saturday earned a draw against Basingstoke Town in Berkshire.    A home win against Billericay Town, an away win at AFC Hornchurch and a credible point at Weston-super-Mare complete the month’s action for Johnson Hippolyte’s side.

Our mean defence will need to be on their guard against Alex Wall, a forward who has netted eight times in his last ten games and has been the subject of interest to higher League Clubs of late.    He and his side will be looking to avenge the 2 – 1 defeat they recorded at Meadow Park last month.

Looking back to our last two visits to York Road we were comfortable 0 – 3 winners last Season, yet  Luke Garrard and Charlie O’Loughlin will be the only familiar names from that starting eleven  come Tuesday.    The Season before, our first at this level we relied on a late Ali Chaaban equaliser to cancel out a first half goal from one Cliff Akurang!

Maidenhead United versus Boreham Wood 26 February 2013, Kick Off: 7.45pm. – York Road, Maidenhead. SL6 1SF.

Come On The Wood!
