WOKING V BOREHAM WOOD

Boreham Wood Football Club are hoping that both our loyal band of supporters and our occasional supporters will come out and travel to get behind the Wood at Woking’s Kingfield Stadium on Saturday.

Saturday is the 4th and final qualifying round of the FA Cup and after beating both East Preston and Frome Town in the previous rounds, Wood have been handed a tough draw away to non-league giants Woking. We will need as much vocal support as we can get if we are to make it into the hat for the first round proper of the FA Cup, where the likes of Sheffield United await, so we hope you will travel.

We well remember almost 2 years to the day…. An FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round tie at Kingfield, where we met the then ground sharing Hayes and Yeading. Though underdogs on the day Wood came from two goals down inside the first 15 minutes, to win the game 3-2 and book our place against Brentford.

Our terrific support that day, really did make the difference according to manager Ian Allinson and if we can repeat it and get a plum draw in the first round proper against a top side, then that’s what true non-league dreams are made of. We’re not flash, we’re not over confident but it is the FA Cup and shocks do happen.

Can history repeat itself again? Woking sit third in the division above, we’re away from home, so everyone will say it’s unlikely but Wood do love being labelled underdogs and this team that Ian Allinson has assembled is a very talented bunch. They do believe we can perform on the day and the do believe it’s possible to progress into the First Round Proper at Kingfield and belief is key in these games.

So we ask that you bring a friend, or family member and do all you can to support the team in the correct manner. We ask that you come and enjoy the day, we ask that you respect our hosts and we can promise you, that win, lose or draw our players, will give you everything they have to still be in the hat for Mondays first round proper draw..

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT, SEE YOU THERE.
