Boreham Wood are delighted to announce the signing of powerful frontman Dan Holman on-loan from Cheltenham Town.

The 27-year-old joins on a 93-day loan, and will link up with his new teammates in training today.

Standing at 5ft 11in, Holman had scored 16 goals in 18 appearances for Cheltenham in 2016, before injury forced him out of action.

On joining the club, Holman elated: “I am really pleased, I wanted to get out and play football and I want to thank the Chairman and the Gaffer for making it a possibility.

“I met with the manager Luke Garrard, and I really liked him. He was a breath of a fresh air and the facilities are great, the setup is great and the way that he wants to play football and the way that he sees me fitting into everything that he does, it convinced me straight away.

“I played with a few of the lads here when I was on-loan at Woking; Kieran Murtagh, Mark Ricketts and Bruno Andrade and I also played with Dean Wells at Braintree. It looks like a really good squad and I am excited to be a part of it.

“There is competition for places and that always brings the best out of me and I am looking forward to getting started. I am a goal scorer, so I just want to score as many goals as possible and help out the team.”

The Northampton-born forward first burst onto the scene with Long Buckby, where he netted 60 goals in 77 appearances across two-spells.

His form at Long Buckby earned the striker a move to Conference North outfit Histon, where he hit the ground running. Holman netted regularly in his first season at Histon, including a run of seven goals in five games.

The 27-year-old then broke into the Football League following a successful spell with Braintree Town, penning a two-year contract with League One side Colchester United.

Holman struggled to break into the side at Colchester, instead spending time on loan with Wrexham, Aldershot Town, Dover Athletic and Woking.

It was at the latter that Holman enjoyed most success, netting an impressive 14 goals in just 26 appearances for the Cardinals.

The frontman’s goal scoring record at Woking convinced Cheltenham Town to snap him up in January 2016.

Holman continued his goal scoring form at Cheltenham, netting 16 times for the Robins as they won promotion back to the Football League that campaign.

Wood manager Luke Garrard spoke of his delight at capturing a forward of such quality, stating: “I am delighted to add Dan Holman to the group and I believe that the supporters will remember him from his time at Cheltenham.

“He is a prolific striker at this level, he gets goals and he is someone that I feel will enhance what we already have at this club.

“He has the right attitude, the right mentality and most definitely the ability. I feel that he will give this group that little added threat in front of goal.”
