Brookside Boys Club

Boreham Wood FC are reminding everyone that following on from our recent £600 donation to Brookside Boys’ Club, we will be holding a community day including a cheque presentation of £2,000 in their honour at our home game v Chelmsford on Saturday 5th April 2014, registration 12.15pm.

Brookside Boys’ Club have been a community asset in the Borehamwood area for nearly fifty years, providing an environment for all kids including the underprivileged to play all sports from boxing, football, pool, snooker, Darts, and table tennis etc., as well as socialise with friends.

Dick & Vera ClarkDick and Vera Clark have been helping out at Brookside Boys Club for over forty years now, and still continue to provide inspirational support to these young kids. On Saturday 5th April, Boreham Wood FC will host Chelmsford City in an important Skrill South relegation fight. Wood are still in a relegation scrap, whilst Chelmsford are in a similar position.

Boreham Wood Football Club’s Community Department invites kids of all ages and their parents or guardians to come and join us for a day that involves a fun training session, a question and answer session with retired former World Middleweight Champion Darren Barker, a tour of our stadium that includes a look at our brand new West Stand, and a complimentary match ticket to our game against Chelmsford City that day.

Darren BarkerBefore the game at around 2:45pm, Boreham Wood FC and Ex-European and World Middleweight Boxing Champion Darren Barker, will present Brookside Boys’ Club leader Dick Clark with a cheque for £2,000. Darren, who recently retired due to injury, will be the guest of honour for the day and would be happy to give photo opportunities to all that attend.

It is hoped that all local people of every age group, who have ever been associated with the boys club over the last 40 odd years, take the time to attend and to show their appreciation of such a great local club.

For more information regarding our community day, please call the Community Department on 020 8953 5716 or email the Community Manager Charlie Hunter on c_hunterhunter@hotmail.com.
