Boreham Wood Chairman Danny Hunter has called on his community department – led by Micky Engwell and Charles Nichol – to help create the club’s biggest ever community day. The day will take place on Wood’s Good Friday home match against Barrow on Friday, March 30.

The fun day will start at 12, with registration beginning at 11.45am, and it will see as many local schools participate as possible. The day will begin with a round of ‘footgolf’, with parents and children all invited to take part.

From 1pm, there will then be a parent and child football tournament. So, we are calling on all dads and daughters, mums and sons, dads and lads and mums and daughters to enter. It will give the children the opportunity to play football with their parents, or guardians, in this one-off football tournament.

Everyone who participates in our fun football sessions will get free Easter eggs, with a ‘Golden Easter egg hunt’ within the stadium, where one lucky winner will get a bonus Easter egg.

All U12’s in attendance will receive free entry and their parents, or guardians, will get half price entry, if their children or grandchildren participate in the fun day.

We will ask our Monday-to-Friday staff and their families, plus the player’s families, to attend. We also hope to see local youth clubs like Brookside, Borehamwood Youth and Borehamwood 2000 at the game.

We will be running a kit design competition in all eight of our local partnered schools during the week. Each team will be given a white t-shirt and be tasked with creating their own Boreham Wood Kit. The winner will be announced at half-time and they will receive a signed Boreham Wood match ball.

We have also invited the Kenilworth girls and Parkside boys football teams down to be mascots for the game, as a reward for them winning their inter-schools football tournament.

While at halftime we plan an extra bit of fun – we will randomly invite three Barrow supporters and three Boreham Wood supporters onto the pitch for a penalty shoot-out with a twist, with the winners getting an Easter egg. The problem for the chosen six… They will all be blindfolded and spun around twice, so it might take a while??

Let’s make it a special family day, a fun day and a good Friday community day to remember and let’s all support and cheer Luke Garrard and the dressing on, in their incredible efforts to make the National League play-offs.

So, if there are any local schools, any local teams, any local youth clubs or any local charities, then get in touch with us, via bwfc.communitydep@hotmail.com, and let’s help each other to create a family day, and the biggest community day in the club’s history.

Further details on the times and itinerary will be announced in the leadup to the game.
