Boreham Wood Football Club are delighted to announce that their summer stadium improvements programme and new training facility build, has now been firmed up, fully costed and given final approval and sign off by Wood Chairman Danny Hunter.

These improvements will include a complete new pitch rebuild, including a new irrigation and drainage system. New dugouts and new floodlight system that gives out a hugely improved lux/light reading.

It will also include a brand new training facility build, the withdrawal of a second astro pitch planning application and the move towards the building of a brand new two tier stand in May 2018 that gets the ground up to league one standard and gives the councils planners, officers, planning committee and local people a project they can believe in, approve and get behind.

Wood Chairman Danny Hunter said “it’s been a learning curve and an exciting time in many ways for me and the club over the last few years, but it’s now about to go to a complete other level. I asked my staff and our supporters to be patient, because when your are at the ideas, planning and discussion stage, things can often for the slightest of reasons grind to a halt. They can for many unforeseen reasons be more time consuming than you envisaged and of course that can be frustrating at times.

“That though is just the democratic process you have to go through, to find the right solution for all parties. Having worked with this council at all levels for many years, it’s a very intelligent body of people, it’s street savvy and between us all we’ve learnt not to rush to make a wrong decision.

“Things because of that have proved to be slightly more expensive than I had first anticipated. But that’s all now been addressed, so to keep us moving forward, I need to improve our facilities, our squad spend and my staff investment. We still need to grow the club off the park and we still need to maintain our overall ambition to challenge on the pitch at this level or above”
