Boreham Wood FC are delighted to announce the re-signing of striker Billy Lobjoit in time for this weekends FA CUP trip to Barton Rovers.
Billy had initially signed for ‘The Wood’ on a Work Experience Loan back in January 2012 from Leyton Orient – Scoring a brace on his debut at home to Weston Super Mare but has now returned to Meadow Park on a permanent deal.
He originally started his pro career in 2004 at Doncaster Rovers and was awarded a youth contract in 2004 when aged just eleven. He was then awarded a scholars contract from the 2005/06 season and in 2008 he moved back south to join Leyton Orient and played in the O’s U18 team whilst just 15.
During 2010/11 season while still at Orient he scored 12 goals in 27 games in the U/18’s and was named as a first-team substitute for the first time in September 2011. In total he made another seven appearances on the bench during that 2011–12 season.
After returning from a Successful loan spell at ‘The Wood’ that season and on the back of scoring another 13 goals in 19 games for Orient’s youth team, Lobjoit was given a one year professional contract at Brisbane Road and finally made his full Orient debut on 5 May 2012, as a used substitute in the 2–1 home win against Rochdale before being released from his contract earlier this year.
On his release from Orient, Lobjoit signed for local rivals Bishops Stortford, and made his debut for them as a substitute in a home defeat to Brackley Town in the Conference North. On the 30th March 2013, he scored his first goal for the club on 3 April, in the 2–1 home defeat to Gloucester City.
On Billy’s arrival at Meadow Park, Wood Gaffer Ian Allinson said “I’ve liked him for a long time and tracked Billy since his release from Orient. I know how much ability he has from his loan period with us and he’s a local lad. Like most young pro’s who suddenly find themselves without a full time training environment, Billy has struggled to adapt to part time football. My job will be to get him fit, get him to adapt to our system, get him working hard, get him focused, get him enjoying his football and helping us to win football matches. The Chairman has again supported me financially in getting Billy signed this week and he goes straight into my FA Cup squad for this Saturday at Barton” Allinson concluded
