Boreham Wood Football Club are excited to announce that the FA Cup will once again be gracing Meadow Park.

In celebration of our recent ten-year contract extension with Arsenal, Arsene Wenger will be bringing the famous trophy with him for the upcoming pre-season friendly on Thursday, July 27.

The fixture will be the official opening of the club’s Premier League standard, million pound Desso pitch and surrounding features.

The 500-lux floodlights will be turned on for the first time and the new Premier League style dugouts will be used by Luke Garrard and his men for the first time.

Wood Chairman Danny Hunter commented: “I am, as always, very grateful to our friends from Arsenal for agreeing to the game.

“I was originally a little worried about the date, because the Emirates Cup is being played on the 29th and 30th July; so, our pitch opening ceremony might not feature heavily in the important stakes for the Arsenal hierarchy.

“But, I am led to believe that both Mr Wenger and Mr Gazidis will be there on the night.

“If so, then they will be cutting the ribbon that will officially open our new Desso pitch.

“We also believe that we can expect to see a reasonably strong Arsenal Xl, who will no doubt give our boys the runaround.

“All in all, it promises to be a great club occasion and a wonderful community evening for the town and our fans.

“I hope that it’s a night where as many Boreham Wood and Arsenal supporters as possible come along and see our clubs improvements, enjoy a great football match and make the most of some affordable, football family time”
