Boreham Wood Football Club and our education providers, Barnet and Southgate College, welcomed back Ben Goodliffe, Sorba Thomas and Fred Burbidge to the club this week after participating in the Roma Caput Mundi Tournament for England Colleges.

After flying out Sunday they tested themselves against Italy the hosts, Albania and Malta. They came away with only one victory from the three fixtures, but the experience gained from the international get together will hold the boys in good stead for the future.

All three boys gave a good account of themselves with Goodliffe captaining the side with growing interest in him, Thomas scored against Malta in the 3-1 win and Burbidge continuing to impress in goal as a first year at the club. The boys can now add themselves to a long list of players to play for their country while being part of the PASE Academy.

Under 19 Manager Cameron Mawer commented on the boys “To have three boys represent our Academy on an international stage is unheard off, for one of them to go and captain his country creates history for us. To have an England cap to take home is something no one can take away from you and the memories will live with the boys forever. It speaks volumes for the current group we have at our disposal, it’s a very exciting time within the Academy, we are currently fighting on six fronts and have players impressing the gaffer and want to be part of his squad.

Perhaps you could be the next to represent Boreham Wood FC for England Colleges? Boreham Wood PASE Academy’s next trial will be held on Tuesday 4th April 2017, 10.00am registration. To register for the next trial or for more information on the PASE Academy if you’re interested in joining us here during this exciting time, please call the PASE office on 020 8953 5716.
