What is PASE?
PASE (Programme of Academic & Sporting Excellence) is an education scheme that gives you the opportunity to train in a full time football academy whilst gaining an education.
The academic side of the scheme is taught by Oaklands College, whilst your football training takes place with Boreham Wood Football Club.
Football Information
How long does the course last?
The course lasts between 1 to 3 years, dependant on your age and GCSE grades.
Who is it for?
Its for boys who are between 16 and 19 years of age, that want to further knowledge, understanding and ability in football at the same time as gaining a nationally recognised qualification in sport.
Where do I train?
You would train on our new third generation astro pitch court, which is among the best training facilities in the country!
Who will be coaching me?
Your coaching will be taken by licensed coaches that have experience in coaching national squads and professional YTS Schemes, as well as playing experience at professional level.
What type of training will I receive to help my progress?
We have a structured schedule that covers every aspect of football coaching. Your sessions will be split into blocks in which you will concentrate on a certain topic. You will also have an indoor session at the end of each block to recap on the sessions and coaching points you have been coached. This will involve footage of your very own PASE games that will be played back to you on an 'Andy Gray' style smart board.
What Opportunities will I gain in a football sense?

The club is designed to give you every opportunity of making it through to the Boreham Wood FC first team. You start at In-house level, from there you will progress to our mid-week Academy Level. Above all of that our scholars will be contesting for a place in our successful Under 18 side. If you are excelling in the youth structure then you will be invited into the reserve team, which is for PASE Scholars and First Team players only. If you continue to impress you will be invited to train with the first team. If you continue to show the discipline and ability needed then who knows how much further you can go, Our close links with Watford FC have seen them run their eyes over no fewer than seven of our current students.
How Successful has Boreham Wood FC Youth Structure been?

Our first team currently consists of twenty-two players, EIGHT have come through our successful PASE Scheme. Another twenty players that have come through our system who have gone on to play at various levels in Non-league football and above. One of our students has recently signed a two year professional contract with Barnet Football Club. As previously stated we have close ties with Watford FC which have seen seven of our students train and play for their Under 18 and Reserve sides. We also play against them twice a year in a competitive fixture to judge how our students are doing.
Our very successful under 18 side are one of the best in the county. They are currently league champions and we look to retain that title again this term. We also reached the 2nd round proper of the FA Youth Cup this season, where we faced professional side Swansea City. Recent years have seen us reach the county cup final in each of the last three years, winning on two of those occasions as well as winning the national Conference Cup twice.
Am I medically looked after?
We have a full time physiotherapy clinic that is based here at the club. Our physios are on site for every training session and match, so that we can look after any students injury, that they may receive. We refuse to allow any training sessions or games to take place without the attendance of one of our medical team.
Our physio department will also structure a rehabilitation programme for you, should you find yourself injured at anytime.

Academic Information - Oaklands College
Dependant on which course you decide to take with us, will decide where you study. All BTEC In sport studies are done onsite at Boreham Wood Football Club. Construction lessons will take place at various Oaklands College Campuses, dependant on which trade you choose.
We also offer A-levels which take place at Oaklands College, but you will have to show a higher level of ability to be offered this opportunity as training is scheduled around your timetable.
What courses are on offer to me?
We offer a range of courses from BTEC's through to A-levels, so we feel that meeting your academic needs will not be a problem, should you show the ability needed.
BTEC in Sport
We offer four different levels of the BTEC in sport. Your GCSE grades will determine which level you enter at.
What will I learn?
Dependant on entry level, you will learn things such as Sports Massage, Sports Injury, Fitness testing, Anatomy of the body, Psychology in Sport and Nutrition, to name but a few subjects that you will be covering. You will be provided with a solid grounding in the world of Sports Science and its associated industries.
What grades do I need?
As stated we offer four levels of the BTEC in sport
The BTEC National Diploma in Sport is the equivalent to three A-levels. It is a two year course and gaining five C's and above at GCSE level will allow you entry to this course.
The BTEC National Certificate in Sport is the equivalent to two A-levels. It is a two year course and gaining four C's at GCSE level will allow you entry to this course.
The BTEC National First Diploma in Sport is a one year course that allows you progress on to the two year courses above. Gaining Four D's and above at GCSE level will allow you entry to this course.
The BTEC Introductory Diploma in Sport is a 1 year course that allows you to progress onto the BTEC First Diploma. There are no grades needed to do this course.
What can I do with this Qualification?
Once again, it depends on which level you enter the course at. Passing the National Diploma or National Certificate will allow you to progress into higher education. Due to the diverse nature of this course, students are well suited to continue their studies in Sports Science, Sports Therapy, Physiotherapy and Health Sciences. The BTEC First Diploma allow progress onto one of the two year courses. It can also lead to employment in the Sports Industry with an apprenticeship. Passing BTEC Introductory Diploma will allow you to progress to the First Diploma Course.
Construction Courses
We offer a wide range of courses designed for entry and progression in the Construction Industry, in response to the growing demand for construction skills. These courses can provide career pathways that link technological development with modern day employment practice. Full time courses are available in Electrical Installation, Plumbing and the Construction Craft Disciplines of Carpentry & Joinery, Brickwork and Plastering. We also offer opportunity for students to study a range of construction disciplines before specialising in their chosen trade.
Oaklands work closely with the industry to structure our courses to suit the needs of our students and the ever changing environment.
What are the Construction courses on offer and what grades are needed?
The courses we offer are City & Guilds Qualifications.
Foundation Construction Certificate (Multi-trades) - This is a one year course and you will need three GCSE's at Grade E and above.
Intermediate Construction Award (Multi-trades) - This is a one year course and you will need either four GCSE's at Grade D and above or succesful completion of the Foundation Construction in Multi-trades.
The courses listed below are all one year courses that require three GCSE's at Grade E and above or successful completion of the Foundation Construction Certificate in Multi-trades. You will also have to demonstrate aptitude for the practical skills required. These courses are;
